TED BAKER - Funky London Fashion - 03/09/08 08:03 AM

Ted Baker, London based fashion company has become my favorite untapped (well at least in the USA) fashion resource. Number one designer in London, Baker is known for his funky designs, fun approach to fashion, and polished (professional) attire that can easily be dressed up and down. Perfect for the busy working man/woman that is fashion concious and desires items that not everyone else (and their grandmother) has.

Merchandise is of the moment, but not too trendy. Making selections more of an investment rather than an impulse. Great for the peace of mind - won't make us shopaholics feel to guilty with our splurges.

Quality of the clothing is refreshing, most pieces are manufactured in Portugal, Spain, and India. Pima Cotton, Jersey, and Silk are the most prevalent textiles in Baker's collections.

The only thing - all sizes are UK based. Which is great if you are tall and thin, not so great if you are 5ft tall like me :) Actually, the dresses and tops fit me best. Jeans, in my dreams. But the dresses are AMAZING, whenever I wear one I get compliments. They also really flatter the figure :)

Better get it before the word gets out, and the prices skyrocket!!

Also, check out the window displays. English humor is hillarious! One word: Windolean??

Cork is meant for the bottle of Wine, not Fashion - 03/09/08 08:03 AM

It is that time of year (spring season) when the weather is warming up and ladies everywhere begin to pull out their spring dresses, shorts, and skirts. With lightweight, colorful, and breathable fabrics being the staple of the spring/summer wardrobe, there must be shoes (HEELS) to accessorize! I believe some materials are meant for the feet and some are meant to be left at the wine bottle.

CORK. Not one of my personal favorites. I believe that cork sandals, wedges, stilettos, platforms, sling backs, espadrilles, whatever the fashionable heart desires - cork should take no place in it. No matter the designer label that is associated with the artwork (accessory), it could be Tom Ford (one of my faves!) I would still want to gag. Cork always looks cheap and can make the most flattering outfit appear tacky.

So please, leave the cork to the bottle of vino. And indulge in silk, fabric, and leather when it comes to selecting accessories worth dressing for. Your feet will be thanking you.

Oliver Peoples - 02/14/08 08:02 AM

If you breathe on the lens, an OP symbol will come up - thats how you can tell the product is genuine. Also, Oliver Peoples uses unique color technology to achieve a hand made color.
