Q: What inspires you to design?
A: People, places, art, flowers, love and romance, mostly.

Q: What one word best describes your designs?
A: Sensual

Q: If you were to dress one person, who would that be?
A: In my case it would be dressing someone with my perfume! I would love to create a signature perfume for Stevie Nicks because I think she exudes a timeless aura. She is beautiful, poetic and elusive, which are characteristics of my fragrances.

Q: What charitable cause is most important to you?
A: All charities for animals, especially domestic cats and dogs that are abused and neglected. Also all causes that relate to helping starving children.

Q: What did you do before you became a designer?
A: I was a flight attendant on private jets. I've flown all over the world and with some amazing people!!

Q: What is your secret indulgence (fashion or otherwise)?
A: Hmmm?

At a very young age, Kristen Michèle was introduced to scents by a family of women who love them as much as she does; there was an aunt that would take her to the health food store after day at the beach and buy her exotic perfume oils, a mother that would travel to Paris and return with special scents for her, and yet another chic and glamorous aunt that had a closet full of beautiful clothes and a dressing table full of scents that she shared with Kristen Michèle. Her love affair with perfume began at a very young age and to this day, many of Kristen Michèle’s memories are tied to specific scents, and are brought back to her with a simple whiff of any one of them.

Throughout her teens, Kristen Michèle began collecting and blending fragrance oils. After college, Kristen had the wonderful opportunity to travel extensively through France, visiting some of the oldest perfume houses in the country. On her journey, she befriended a highly successful perfumer who gave her a “smell” test with some of the raw essences in his lab. The results were astounding, and he found that Kristen had a natural ability to recognize scent. She was given strong encouragement from this established and recognized perfumer to “pursue her passion of perfumery.”

In 2004, as Kristen was faced with a long recovery from surgery, she found herself blending oils as a way to help aide in her recovery. The process of pulling together the scents was calming to her, and made the difficult time pass much more quickly. It was during this time that Kristen began to develop her own line of fragrances.

Today, Kristen Michèle pulls inspiration from everything around her and works with a simple goal, “to recreate a classic time gone by, a time of glamour and elegance…” She continues to surprise and delight everyone who wears her scents. Her future in the beauty industry is bright and will surely prove to be prosperous.
