Tangled Up In Threads
Q: What inspires you to design?
A:
The colors and textures of beautiful yarns, fibers and ribbons. The excitement of putting together complimentary colors with soft textures and seeing them make a plain top pop inspires me everyday.
A: Fabulous! Q: What charitable cause is most important to you?
A: Planned Parenthood. Every woman regardless of age needs access to accurate safe judgemental free health care. Q: What did you do before you became a designer?
A: I haven't left my profession career in the healthcare world yet! Q: What is your secret indulgence (fashion or otherwise)?
A: A day at the spa. It is the one thing I do just for me.
Sue, the designer of Tangled up in Threads, LLC fiber necklaces, began creating art as a child and has continued crafting throughout her life. Sue grew up in Rochester, NH and moved to Londonderry in 1980. As a proud native New Hampshirite, Sue can trace her ancestors' arrival in the state back to the 1600's. Sue's mother, a first-generation Greek-American and an avid knitter, exposed her to beautiful yarns at a young age. The Tangled up in Threads necklace line began out of a desire to use these yarns in a new and dramatic way. Sue also wanted to create jewelry that could be worn to the office or to formal events, as well as with casual clothing.
Splitting her time between a busy professional career and her love of art, Sue set up shop in her home, designing and perfecting her fiber necklaces. Each necklace begins by picking the right color, texture, and style of fiber to suit either a fun or elegant mood. Lengths are varied to allow for the necklaces to be worn with different types of collars.
As interest in Sue's necklaces started to grow, Sue was encouraged to create the Tangled up in Threads business. At the advice of her husband, Sue opened a website to spread the word about her jewelry and to offer customers a new way to shop her collection. As Tangled up in Threads continues to grow, Sue's goal is for her necklaces to be available in boutiques and gift shops throughout the country.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the necklaces made out of?
The necklaces are made of natural and synthetic yarns. The designer hand selects each fiber. The most popular fibers silk, bamboo, cotton, linen, flax, angora, wool, alpaca, viscose, rayon and nylon.
What kind of closure does the necklace have?
Tangled Up In Threads offers two types of closure clasps: screw and magnet. If you find it difficult to use screw clasps on ordinary jewelry, try our magnet clasp to make donning the necklace easier.
Are the necklaces heavy and hot?
Not at all. Tangled Up In Threads necklaces are extremely light weight and delicate. The air flows through the open fibers. They are great for women who love the look and style of scarves but find them too heavy and hot. They style just like a scarf too. Wear them loose, twisted or tie in a knot.
Do the necklaces tickle or itch?
Not at all! Even the most sensitive women wear these soft and weightless necklaces without complaint.
Can I request a custom made necklace?
Yes. If you don’t see a necklace in our gallery that fits what you are looking for, email the designer to request specific colors or lengths.
