Q: What inspires you to design?
A: I am inspired by nature and natural materials and colors, architecture, a feeling or mood, experiencing new cultures, art, etc. A scuba diving trip inspired an entire spring collection.

Q: What one word best describes your designs?
A: Confident

Q: If you were to dress one person, who would that be?
A: Imelda Marcos-she shares my love for shoes.

Q: Who is your favorite new designer, besides your own collection?
A: It’s hard to say, I think all new designers bring a fresh spirit to the industry.

Q: What bag do you lust for this season?
A: Marc Jacobs Stam Quilted bag…but I succumb to that lust…

Q: What charitable cause is most important to you?
A: My heart is drawn to many organizations that are important to me: Brest Cancer, Diabetes, LA Mission, Battered Women’s Shelters, plus we are continually supporting various mission trips around the World that feed villages, build homes, orphanages and ch

Q: What did you do before you became a designer?
A: Played with dolls and built forts, I started designing when I was 5.

Q: What is your secret indulgence (fashion or otherwise)?
A: Long, frighteningly hot, bubble baths; I try to indulge as often as possible.

Johnny Montini Incorporated was founded in the spring of 2004 and is currently marketing its second collection of women’s luxury footwear. The response to the Spring/Summer 2006 collection was tremendous with the opening of over 48 of the most exclusive luxury shoe boutiques in the U.S. and with great international development as a result of the MICAM show in Milan. The company has been very selective in choosing retailers that are representative of the quality and luxury of the Johnny Montini brand.

After spending a decade in the fashion industry, JocLene Davey, the company’s cofounder and Creative Director, decided it was time to apply her unique sense of style and elegance and her innate attention to detail to her own line. Acknowledging her passion for luxury footwear and recognizing a niche for her style and sensibilities; JocLene left the apparel industry to acquire a formal education in technical shoe construction. After completing her education, she and her business partner (and now husband) John Davey, set out on an exhaustive search to find a factory that could meet their strict design and quality standards. They spent their honeymoon touring factories in Italy and ultimately partnered with a factory in the Lombardy region with an impeccable reputation for producing luxury footwear for the international market for over 50 years.

JocLene’s passion for designing clothing and accessories started at an early age and lead her to earn a degree in apparel design. After receiving several design awards during the course of her education, she started her professional career in the design house of Cynthia Rowley with the intent to, one day, launch her own line. In a quest to learn all aspects of the business, JocLene moved into marketing and sales and has sold and managed the wholesale businesses for major brand names JocLene Davey like Betsey Johnson, R&B, Big Star Jeans, Morgan de Toi, and Oinkbaby.

I Dream of Johnny Italy has had its fair share of hits: da Vinci, Rossini, Botticelli. And now, Montini. Contemporary shoe line Johnny Montini was born of a honeymoon spent on the Italian Riviera (no joke — the creators dreamed up the first styles in the weeks following their wedding), and it shows. Spring and summer selections range from cutesy and colorful (the Rose Maries make a prim pairing with a cover-up of the Joie variety) to straight-up sexy (the Natalia will have many a Vespa-riding Romeo rethinking the word “racy”) and pretty yet wearable (like the Giuliana, for when the thought of walking one more cobblestone path makes you want to cry).
