My dad picked me up from the airport the other day and grilled me on the latest in fashion during our drive home. As a creative director at an exhibit design firm he likes to keep up on what is "hip" at the moment. As a man who has a "shoe guy" and a "suit guy" call him from Nordstroms when something exciting shows up he just has a general interest in fashion.

"So, what's big this season?"

I mulled over the possible answers I could give him. The staying power of skinny jeans? The return of the gladiator sandal? Khaki and olive green taking cues from safari chic?

All of these trends are prevalent but what is truly "it" for the stylish many off the runway are wide leg and high waisted denim.

Momentarily dad confused high waited with the notoriously unflattering "mom jeans" that continue to plague women across the country. After I calmed him down and reminded him that crimes of fashion needn't cause him to veer off the road.

I think the topic made him a little emotional because the rest of the ride was silent which allowed me plenty of time to think of high waisted denim in all it's stylish and fashionable glory. It's not a trend for all to run out of the house with on, but for those who can pull it off, they should take advantage of it. High waisted shorts, high waisted pencil skirts, high waisted trousers!

I can't wait to return home to San Francisco and check out The Blues Jean Bar. And when I do I will be sure to fill you in on all things denim!
