By the time my younger sister was able to talk, it was clear she was misnamed. Instead of being named Mackenzie my parents agreed they should have named her “Anita.” Somehow Mackenzie found that she always needed something when we went shopping. “I need those red shoes!” “I need those sneakers!” “I need that computer!”

Oh and how she would fill in the blank with a variety of unnecessary material items!

Lately feelings of need have resonated within me and I begin to think of my sister 3,000 miles away in need of a lot of things, mostly a Swiss Bank Account. But like Anit-, I mean Mackenzie, I have found myself needing stuff.

Mostly more jewelry. I like to keep my attire simple, clean and sophisticated. Jewelry intimidates me and I normally wear diamond studs and a silver pendant. Something has ignited a desire to start wearing hoop earrings and rings.

Haven at 3209 Paces Ferry Place in Atlanta, Georgia carries clothing and accessories, and also subtle and elegant jewelry. Beth Ordun has taken an edgy twist on a normally modest pearl necklace. Instead of a simple string of pearls, it’s black leather. Want it! As for hoops I wonder if I should go for something with a little more weight, like the St. Kilda Rose Gold hoops or dainty Gretchen Comly dangles .

The wants don’t stop at the jewelry though. Haven carries lesser known but still utterly fabulous designers like Gary Graham and better known labels like Puella. I think I’ve decided that I want everything Gary Graham designs, by the way. Especially this little shirt dress .

Shopping at Haven is calming and peaceful. The store is clean, bright and airy, just like the merchandise. I want it all! I want it! Just call me Want-nita!
