Joan Shepp Philadelphia, PA
Just because I love shopping does not warrant me the right to spend money at my every whim. Culprits of the bane of my financial existence, Sally and Fannie Mae and their student loan “business”, have been maliciously shirking my ability to afford the ultimate essentials in every girl’s wardrobe. Specifically, those sisters have put a hold on my dreams of owning a pair of Christian Louboutin Yasmine wedges
.
Ah, but a girl can dream, though you don’t need to sleep to dream. Just head to Walnut Street in Philadelphia and pop into Joan Shepp for luxe reverie. Chloe, Stella McCartney, Dries Van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester are a few of the designers that awaken your fashion senses and contribute to an emotional fashion experience. If you are a lover of high fashion, this boutique is your dream-scape.
Shoppers should not be intimidated by the 22 foot ceilings and large windows showing off the merchandise that is difficult to find outside of New York City or large retailers like Neiman Marcus (which my dad affectionately calls Needless Markups). Instead shoppers should be prepared for a luxurious and wardrobe inspiring experience. When else will you be able to browse through a rack of Balenciaga skinny jeans and try on a White + Warren dress
and have it altered by in-house dressmaker, Irina Segal?
What I love about boutiques, especially high end boutiques like Joan Shepp, is their ability to generate passion and excitement for fashion. The second floor loft is appropriately titled Glamour Girls and is dedicated to unique vintage pieces. In addition to high end contemporary and vintage designers, Joan Shepp also carries eco-friendly fashion like Linda Loudermilk. The boutique even donates 10% of sales to charities in need. Whether you browse or buy at Joan Shepp you leave feeling invigorated, ready to dress to passionately and fashionably live your dreams!
My dream? Write Sally and Fannie Mae their fat check with a tube of Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick while I stand in those Yasmie wedges. Ah, but a girl can dream.
