Petulia's Folly

Ever try to online shop and simultaneously paint your nails Revlon Red? Uh, neither have I, because that would be an accident waiting to happen. But my friend was telling me she nearly spilled nail-polish on her laptop while searching www.petuliasfolly.com. I got so excited when I saw a Rebecca Minkoff tote and nearly had scarlet letters everywhere. I mean, that’s what happened to my friend, yeah, not me. Careless friends.

Anyways, Petulia’s Folly carries a bevy of labels, but surprisingly the store isn’t sloppily overflowing with shelves of merchandise. The store is utterly shoppable. Racks and cubbies feature photographs above in order to distinguish what goes where. Nothing curtails a serious shopper or browsers goal of viewing each Catherine Malandrino blouse or Megan Park dress.

Petulia’s Folly is one of the best boutiques in Philadelphia. While the city seems to be teeming with those Fishtown hipsters who look and act like they just rolled out of bed, Petulai’s Folley tucked in an alley on Sansom Street is a refreshing high fashion alternative. The boutique’s name is a combination of the name of the unfulfilled newlywed and socialite character, Petulia Danner, Julie Christie plays in the 1968 film, Petulia and folly, a structure which serves only purposes of decoration. But you won’t leave Petulia’s Folly feeling unfulfilled or as if you participated in a worthless folly.
